Pizza al Taglio originated in Rome in the 60s and is usually baked in rectangular trays and sold by the square as a stellar on-the-go snack.

This type of pizza uses a Roman style base which is thick yet airy & sturdy enough to make an excellent slice of pizza but can also double up as a fantastic vehicle for a sandwich. 

Our iteration of this pizza base is 100% sourdough with a same day ferment to keep it light, yet flavourful. It can be frozen for up to a month in a ziplock.

How to use:
Simply defrost and slice off as many pieces as you wish. Zap it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Load it up with your choice of toppings (tomato sauce, vegetables, ham, chicken, cheese etc) and leave in
a hot covered pan on low heat till everything is melted and the base is crispy.

About Sourdough:
Centuries old tradition of baking bread, this one uses no commercial yeast. Instead it relies on a 'wild yeast' starter & slow rise / fermentation, which breaks down the gluten into amino acids. This translates into easier digestion even for those who are sensitive to gluten. The slow process not only produces more flavour (and a slight tang), it also translates into a bread that is full of naturally occurring nutrients.
