We started off wanting to pair Chocolate & Strawberry in a cake. As always we began at the cake making it extra moreish, oh so fudgy, chocolatey and moist. We also introduced hazelnuts into the mix as a flour in the cake and also as a custard in between the cake layers which offsets both the chocolate and the tangy berry flavour beautifully.
It's a three layered bombshell of a stack with cake, custard, compote all elevating each other. All of this gets covered in an ultra smooth and light chocolate buttercream. Altogether it makes for one decadent bite.
As a bonus, we haven't used any refined flour or sugar in any of the components which only enhances the flavour and texture of this cake.

P.S: It's a TALL & hefty cake, so much so, that we had to get new taller boxes for them. So a 6-inch 3 layered cake will easily feed about 10 folks, while the 9-incher is good for a crowd of 20.
To that end, we decided to introduce a single layered cake with the same elements for groups of 4-6. Same decadence, but in smaller proportions.
